Trinic-con day 1

Friday, July 15th, 2005

Well, I’m running late already. I have started one load of laundry but I still need to pack my game bag. I managed to print out the pregen PC’s for my games, only 1 copy of each character, but the players will survive.

I still need: a map, my map stamps, pens, my plot folder, my character (rpga), minis, & oh geez, I don’t even remember what I need. Better get busy & stop typing, huh?

Trinic-con is this weekend. I’m running 3 games of Ironclaw: Sinkhole. Depending on what PC’s I have & what the players are interested in, I have about 8 different plot possibilities. I am still not certain when I’m running this weekend. They still don’t have the non-RPGA gaming schedule up. So I’ve looked to see when I’m playing RPGA games. From that, I think I’m running Friday night, Saturday morning & Sunday afternoon. I think. Guess I’ll find out Friday.

Things to do Friday: laundry, buy bus ticket, get game materials together (play & running) & walk Duncan. Oh & hang out the not quite dry fabric to try & see if it’s salvageable.

Tomorrow I’m playing in the Mutants & Masterminds campaign so I won’t have a chance to do any of my tasks before Friday. Tonight I need to finish preparing my plotlines, etc. I need to check my pregen characters, etc. That I need to do tomorrow at work, MS Office excel still isn’t working on my laptop.

I’ve finished the 1st two rounds of my tatting project & I’m working on the 3rd one. Once the 3rd round is done, I only have 2 rounds to go. So far, so good.

Grief

They (Homeowners Assoc) are supposed to be resealing decks, soon. Of course, they probably want to fix it 1st. But they didn’t ask us. They painted our front door today (couldn’t leave until it’s done). So, those bags of stuff that I’ve been ’storing’ under a tarp on the deck had to be cleared. I haven’t been able to get to the that door for months (thanks for the tv, now what do I do with it?).

I learned today that the tarp had split apart, exposing the bags. So I went through and began sorting the bags & their contents. We took 5 bags of moldy/soaked/destroyed clothes, books, etc to the trash. Now the trashcan’s full & there are 2 more bags to go. Plus, I still have 9 more bags to check. I found my copy of Barraryar, totaled. The picture that my dad gave me is now attached, badly, to the glass. I may be able to save about 1 washing machine load worth of cloth & clothes. I found my thigh-high boots, they are probably still good. I could only work on about 3 bags before bursting into tears. Then I’d take a break, recover, rest in the AC, & back to the deck.

Joe came over & we went to Southpoint to see Fantastic 4. We got there a little late (I had to have a shower) so we went to eat Italian & then to the movie. The food was fantastic, I had a small box of leftovers. Turns out, the theater didn’t allow any food, even leftovers. Luckily, they’ll hold the bag while you watch the movie. If you don’t reclaim it by the time the movie’s been over 30 minutes, they throw it out.

It wasn’t a bad movie. It could have used more action & less Susan/Reed angst. I’m not certain I like what they did to Victor v.D. They included Reed & Vic’s college rivalry, that’s okay; but Victor pursuing Susan?

I have to get up early in the morning. I need to finish those 9 bags, then clean the living room & dining room for gaming. Chris & I want to go to the Pizza Inn buffet for brunch, so I have to be done by 10 am, with time for a shower & then we leave about 10:30am.

Cut short: I’m off to bed.

Rush, rush, rush

Okay, this will be a quickie: I’m working on a doily for a friend (she doesn’t know about it, so shhhh, it’s a surprise).

Origins was great, I think I’m still tired. I ran a midnight madness game (ie, ’sure, I’ll run a game for you after my game gets out at 10pm/11pm). It was worth getting only 4 hours of sleep before running again at 8 am on my 4th day of the con.

West Virginia was the prettiest state to drive through. They have gorgeous scenery. One day I’ll stop at Tamarack.

We are going to avoid staying at that hotel again. Despite verifying that it was going to be same rate every night, they upped the price on 2 nights. BF’s initials were by the change but off to the side & he says that those numbers were not filled in when he initialed. If we do ever stay in one again, we’re demanding a copy of the contract. It left a very sour taste in our mouths.

And I still need to get home, move my bags out of the living room & run Buffy tonight. Whee!
